The Alianza corrido cycle embodies the elements of the Heroic Journey, beginning with the call to adventure and continuing through the initiation of the adventure, its coalescence, its fragmentation, and the end of the hero’s journey. The sociopolitical corrido is a mirror that reflects the developmental understanding of repression under dominance and serves as the ideal mechanism of expression for the disempowered.
